Posh vs Eventbrite vs Event Visionary: The Best Ticketing Platform for Nightlife
By Event Visionary · Updated · 8 min read

If you run club nights, day parties or late-night pop-ups, the ticketing platform you pick decides how much of each ticket you keep, when the money reaches your bank, and how easy it is to work with promoters and the door. Most nightlife organizers end up comparing the same three options: Posh, Eventbrite, and a platform built specifically for nightlife like Event Visionary.
This guide compares Posh vs Eventbrite vs Event Visionary on the things that matter on a Saturday night: fees, payouts, marketing, promoters, door tools and talent booking. Every competitor figure below comes from that platform's own pricing or help pages, checked as of October 2026. Where a platform doesn't publish something, we say so instead of guessing.
The short answer: Posh vs Eventbrite vs Event Visionary
All three platforms can sell tickets to a club night. They differ in who pays the fee, how the fee is built, and what comes with it. Here is the side-by-side view, as of October 2026.
| Event Visionary | Posh | Eventbrite | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fee on a paid ticket | $0 to organizers; buyer pays $1 + 10% | 10% + $0.99 per paid ticket, all-in | 3.7% + $1.79 per ticket, plus 2.9% of the order |
| Who pays the fee | The buyer | Your choice: buyer or you | Buyer by default, or you can absorb it |
| Free events | List events free | No ticket fee | No fees for free events |
| Payouts | Daily by default; instant via Stripe once eligible | Daily or manual (free); Instant Payout for 5% | Pre-event payouts listed as a feature |
| Texting your guests | Text your whole guest list from the dashboard | Messaging Service incl. SMS (per organizer terms) | Email campaigns; Pro plan from $15/month for more email |
| Promoters and team | Org members with roles (box office, promoters) | Kickback referral links; team permissions | Organizer app and mobile check-in |
| Book and pay DJs/talent | Yes, escrow-style | Not part of ticketing | Not part of ticketing |
If you want to keep the full face value of every ticket, text your guest list, and book your DJs in the same place, Event Visionary is built for that. If your main goal is to be found by people browsing a big general events marketplace, Eventbrite's discovery tools are its strength. Posh sits in between, with a social, share-driven model and one all-in fee.
Fees: who pays, and how much per ticket
Fees are where Posh vs Eventbrite gets confusing, because the two platforms build the fee differently. Here is what each one publishes, as of October 2026.
Eventbrite fees
Eventbrite charges a 3.7% + $1.79 service fee per paid ticket plus a 2.9% payment processing fee per order in the US. Its help center says the service fee is calculated on the ticket price, while the processing fee is calculated on the total order, including service fees and tax. Free events have no fees. Fees are paid by your buyers by default, or you can choose to absorb them.
Posh fees
Posh charges a flat 10% + $0.99 per paid ticket, all-in. Card processing is included in that number rather than billed separately. You choose at setup whether the buyer pays the fee at checkout or you absorb it. Posh lists Instant Payout as its only other charge, at 5%, and it is optional. Posh's help center also notes that its platform fee isn't returned when you refund an individual ticket. It is returned when Posh approves a full event refund.
Event Visionary fees
Event Visionary charges organizers zero platform fees. The $1 + 10% per-ticket fee is paid by the buyer, so your ticket price is what you keep in face value. There is no monthly software fee, and listing events is free.
| Platform | Fee on a $25 ticket | Buyer pays | Your face value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Event Visionary | $3.50 | $28.50 | $25.00 |
| Posh | $3.49 | $28.49 | $25.00 |
| Eventbrite | ≈ $3.52 ($2.72 service + ≈ $0.80 processing) | ≈ $28.52 | $25.00 |
When the buyer covers the fee, the checkout price on a $25 ticket lands within a few cents on all three. The real differences show up when you absorb fees, when you need money before the event, and in the tools you get. Payouts: getting paid before the night
Nightlife runs on deposits. Venue minimums, DJ fees, security and production often have to be paid before doors open, so payout timing matters as much as the fee.
- Posh: you can withdraw ticket revenue as it sells, on a free Daily or Manual schedule. Posh says each sale becomes available 24 to 48 business hours after purchase, and standard ACH payouts arrive in 3 to 5 business days. Instant Payout costs 5% and opens up after $2,000 in lifetime sales.
- Eventbrite: its pricing page lists pre-event payouts as a ticketing feature. Check Eventbrite's help center for the eligibility rules that apply to your account.
- Event Visionary: payouts are daily by default, and instant payouts via Stripe are available once your account is eligible.
Marketing: reaching your crowd, not just a marketplace
Club nights mostly sell through your own audience: Instagram, group chats, promoters and repeat guests. Look at how each platform helps you reach those people again.
- Eventbrite lists visibility on its discovery marketplace, email campaigns, Facebook and Instagram ad tools, promo codes, smart audiences and Eventbrite Ads (in select markets). Eventbrite Pro, from $15/month, lets you send up to 10,000 emails a day.
- Posh leans on social sharing: tickets and event pages spread through the people who buy them. Its organizer terms also describe a Messaging Service that includes text message/SMS.
- Event Visionary lets you text your whole guest list from the dashboard and run SMS campaigns to build a phone list for your next event. Tickets go out by email or text as soon as a purchase completes.
Text messages are hard to beat for nightlife. A last-call text the afternoon of the party reaches people who already bought from you, which is exactly who is most likely to buy again. Only text people who opted in, and give them an easy way to opt out.
Promoters, team roles, and the door
A club night is a team sport. You might have five promoters, a box office person and a door host, and they shouldn't all see your payouts.
- Event Visionary supports multiple members in your organization with roles, so you can give promoters and box office staff access to what they need.
- Posh offers an affiliate-style Kickback Program, where people share unique referral links and earn cash payouts on the tickets they drive. Posh says team members only see finances if you grant the Finance permission, and door staff using a Scanner PIN never see financial data.
- Eventbrite offers an organizer app with mobile check-in. For tickets sold at the door through that app in the US, Eventbrite charges $1 per paid ticket plus 2.9% of the total order, and the processing fee can't be passed on for those sales.
Whatever you choose, run a test scan before doors, decide who handles comps and guest-list check-ins, and agree on how each promoter's sales will be tracked before the first link goes out. Our guide to selling tickets for a club night in LA walks through a full promoter and door setup.
Booking DJs and talent in the same place
This is where an Eventbrite alternative or Posh alternative built for nightlife earns its spot. On Event Visionary you can hire DJs and other event talent and pay them escrow-style: you deposit the fee, funds release after the gig is confirmed, and both sides are protected if something goes wrong.
Neither Eventbrite's pricing page nor Posh's fee articles cover talent booking. Posh's own comparison article names vendor-hire workflows as a case it isn't built for. If you book DJs, hosts or photographers every week, keeping ticketing and talent pay in one dashboard saves you a separate tool and a pile of payment apps.
Are you the talent? DJs and performers can send a payment link and get paid escrow-style, free for talent.
Which nightlife ticketing platform should you choose?
There's no single best ticketing platform for nightlife for everyone. It depends on how you sell. Use this as a starting point:
- Choose Eventbrite if a large share of your buyers find events by browsing a general marketplace, and you want built-in email and ad tools.
- Choose Posh if you want one all-in fee, social sharing and a referral program, and you're comfortable with a 5% charge when you need money instantly.
- Choose Event Visionary if you want zero platform fees as the organizer, daily payouts, texting your whole guest list, team roles for box office and promoters, and escrow-style payments for the DJs you book.
