The Best Free Ticketing Platforms in 2026, With Every Fee Verified
By Event Visionary · Updated · 7 min read

Almost every ticketing site says it's free. Usually that means free to sign up, or free for free events. When you sell a paid ticket, somebody pays: you, your buyer, or both. Card processing alone typically costs around 2.9% + $0.30 on a Stripe-processed sale, and it doesn't go away.
So instead of ranking platforms on the word "free," this guide compares the best free ticketing platforms on what actually costs you money as of October 2026: free events, the fee on a paid ticket, who pays it, and what a $25 ticket costs. Every number comes from each platform's official pricing page, linked at the end.
What "free ticketing" really means
When you compare free ticketing sites, look for three separate things:
- Free to use. No sign-up fee, contract or monthly subscription.
- Free for free events. No charge when you issue free tickets or RSVPs.
- Free for the organizer on paid tickets. The platform's fee is paid by the buyer, so you keep your full ticket price.
Most top ticketing platforms meet the first two. Far fewer meet the third by default, and on many of them card processing is still billed separately on top of the platform fee.
Top ticketing platforms compared (as of October 2026)
| Platform | Free events | Fee on a paid ticket | Card processing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Event Visionary | List events free | $0 to organizers; buyer pays $1 + 10% | No platform fee to organizers |
| Eventbrite | No fees | 3.7% + $1.79 | + 2.9% of the order |
| Posh | No ticket fee | 10% + $0.99, all-in | Included |
| Humanitix | Free | 2.1% + $0.99 (charities and schools: 1% + $0.99) | + 2.9% + $0.30 |
| Luma (Free plan) | Free | 5% platform fee | + Stripe (typically 2.9% + 30¢) |
| Ticket Tailor | Free up to 5,000 free tickets a year | $0.85 pay as you go, or credits from $0.30 | + your processor (e.g., Stripe US 2.9% + $0.30) |
What a $25 ticket really costs on each platform
Here's the cost of one $25 ticket if you, the organizer, cover every fee, one ticket per order, no tax. It's the cleanest way to compare platforms with different fee structures.
| Platform | How it adds up | Organizer cost | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Event Visionary | Buyer pays $1 + 10% ($3.50) | $0 platform fee | $25.00 |
| Ticket Tailor (pay as you go) | $0.85 + Stripe $1.03 | ≈ $1.88 | ≈ $23.12 |
| Luma (Free plan) | 5% ($1.25) + Stripe $1.03 | ≈ $2.28 | ≈ $22.72 |
| Humanitix | 2.1% + $0.99 ($1.52) + $1.03 processing | ≈ $2.54 | ≈ $22.46 |
| Eventbrite | 3.7% + $1.79 ($2.72) + 2.9% ($0.73) | ≈ $3.44 | ≈ $21.56 |
| Posh | 10% + $0.99, all-in | $3.49 | $21.51 |
Absorbing fees is the most expensive way to sell on most platforms. Passing them to buyers is common, and on Eventbrite it's the default. It's worth knowing how much you'd be absorbing before you choose. For a deeper look at the two biggest names, see Eventbrite fees vs Posh fees on 200 tickets.
The best free ticketing platforms, one by one
Event Visionary: zero platform fees for organizers
Event Visionary is LA-based ticketing built for nightlife. Organizers pay zero platform fees, and the $1 + 10% per-ticket fee is paid by the buyer. Listing is free, and there's no monthly software fee. Payouts are daily by default, with instant payouts via Stripe once your account is eligible. You can text your whole guest list from the dashboard, add multiple org members with roles like box office and promoters, use reusable seating charts, and hire DJs and other talent with escrow-style payment. Best for: club nights, parties and promoters who want to keep their full ticket price.
Eventbrite: the big general marketplace
Eventbrite charges nothing for free events. Paid tickets carry a 3.7% + $1.79 service fee plus 2.9% payment processing per order, and fees are paid by buyers by default. Its pricing page lists marketplace visibility, email campaigns, Facebook and Instagram ad tools, waitlists and pre-event payouts. Eventbrite Pro starts at $15/month for more email sends. Best for: general-public events that benefit from browse-and-search discovery.
Posh: one all-in fee for social events
Posh charges no ticket fee for free events and a flat 10% + $0.99 per paid ticket, all-in, with processing included. You choose whether the buyer or you pay it. Standard Daily or Manual payouts are free, and Instant Payout costs 5%. Best for: organizers who want a single, easy-to-explain fee and share-driven promotion.
Humanitix: low fees with profits to charity
Humanitix is free for free events and charges 2.1% + $0.99 per paid ticket plus 2.9% + $0.30 processing, or 1% + $0.99 for charities and schools. It has no sign-up fees or contracts, says all profits go to charity, and lists scheduled payouts, waitlists, team permissions and discount codes on every plan. Best for: mission-driven, community and school events.
Luma: free for community events
Luma's free plan includes unlimited events and guests, blasts by email, SMS, push and WhatsApp, and unlimited cohosts. Paid events carry a 5% platform fee on top of Stripe's card fee. Luma Plus ($59/month, billed annually) drops the platform fee to 0%. Best for: meetups, community calendars and recurring free events.
Ticket Tailor: flat per-ticket pricing
Ticket Tailor is free for up to 5,000 free tickets a year and your first five ticket sales. After that it charges $0.85 per ticket pay as you go, or less with pre-paid credits from $0.30. Your payment processor (Stripe, PayPal or Square) charges separately, since Ticket Tailor doesn't process the payment itself. You can add a booking fee to pass costs to buyers. Tickets sold with seating charts, including free ones, incur a fee. Registered charities get 50% off. Best for: organizers who drive their own sales and want predictable per-ticket costs.
Features that matter more than the word "free"
Two platforms can charge almost the same per ticket and still feel completely different on event night. Once you've narrowed it down on fees, compare these:
- Payout timing. When does ticket revenue reach your bank: daily, on a schedule, or after the event? Does faster cost extra?
- Who sees what. Can you add a box office person or a promoter without handing over your finances?
- Reaching past buyers. Can you email or text people who bought before, and is there a weekly send limit?
- Check-in. Is there a scanning app, and does it work for door sales?
- Seating. If you sell tables or reserved seats, check whether seating charts cost extra. Ticket Tailor, for example, charges for every ticket sold with a seating chart, including free ones.
- Refunds and chargebacks. Find out whether platform fees come back on a refund and what a chargeback costs you.
Some platforms you may have heard of aren't in the tables. Shotgun says on its help center that US buyers pay variable service fees shown at checkout, and DICE doesn't publish organizer pricing on its partner page. Without a published rate, we can't compare them fairly, so ask them for a quote directly.
How to choose the best ticketing platform for you
- Only running free events? Most of these platforms charge nothing for free events. Pick on check-in tools, messaging and how your event page looks.
- Selling paid tickets and want to keep the full price? Look for a model where the buyer pays the platform fee. Event Visionary does this by default with no platform fee to organizers.
- Need people to discover you? A marketplace with a large browsing audience may be worth its fees.
- Fronting deposits? Check payout timing closely, and whether faster payouts cost extra.
- Running nightlife with promoters and DJs? Prioritize team roles, texting your guest list and talent payments. Our Posh vs Eventbrite vs Event Visionary comparison goes deeper.
