Eventbrite Fees vs Posh Fees: What 200 Tickets at $25 Really Cost

Ticketing fees look small until you multiply them by a full room. A couple of dollars per ticket on a 200-person club night adds up to hundreds of dollars, and whether that money comes out of your buyer's pocket or yours changes your whole budget.

This post compares Eventbrite fees vs Posh fees on one realistic event: 200 tickets at $25. You'll see the math line by line for passing fees to buyers and for absorbing them, plus how Event Visionary's zero-platform-fee model compares. Every rate comes from Eventbrite's and Posh's own pages, checked as of October 2026. Use the calculator below to run your own numbers.

Two details matter for the math. First, Eventbrite's help center says its service fee is calculated on the ticket price, but its processing fee is calculated on the total order, including service fees and tax. Second, Posh's 10% + $0.99 already includes card processing, so there is no separate processing line to add.

Scenario 1: you pass the fees to your buyers

Most nightlife organizers show a ticket price and let the buyer cover the fees. Here is what that looks like for one $25 ticket, one ticket per order, before sales tax.

  1. Eventbrite: service fee = 3.7% × $25 + $1.79 = $2.72 (rounded from $2.715). Processing = 2.9% × ($25 + $2.715) ≈ $0.80. The buyer pays about $28.52, and you keep $25.
  2. Posh: fee = 10% × $25 + $0.99 = $3.49. The buyer pays $28.49, and you keep $25.
  3. Event Visionary: fee = $1 + 10% × $25 = $3.50, paid by the buyer. The buyer pays $28.50, and you keep the $25 face value with no platform fee taken from it.

Eventbrite≈ $28.52≈ $703.75$5,000.00
Posh$28.49$698.00$5,000.00
Event Visionary$28.50$700.00$5,000.00
One ticket per order, no sales tax. Eventbrite's processing fee is percentage-based, so bigger orders and taxed orders shift it slightly.

At $25, the buyer's total is within a few cents on all three platforms. The fee alone doesn't separate Eventbrite and Posh at this price. Payout timing, team tools and marketing do, and so does what you can still afford to do for your guests.

Scenario 2: you absorb the fees

Some organizers would rather list one clean price and absorb the fees. Eventbrite and Posh both let you do this. Here's what comes off each $25 ticket.

  1. Eventbrite: service fee $0.925 + $1.79 = $2.715, plus processing of 2.9% × $25 = $0.725. That's about $3.44 per ticket, so you net about $21.56.
  2. Posh: 10% × $25 + $0.99 = $3.49 per ticket, so you net $21.51.

Eventbrite≈ $3.44≈ $688.00≈ $4,312.00
Posh$3.49$698.00$4,302.00

Absorbing fees on a 200-ticket night costs you roughly $690 to $700 on either platform. That's often more than a support DJ's set fee or a night of security. On Event Visionary, organizers pay zero platform fees: the $1 + 10% per-ticket fee is charged to the buyer at checkout.

How ticketing fees change at different price points

Because Eventbrite's fee has a bigger flat part ($1.79) and a smaller percentage, while Posh's has a smaller flat part ($0.99) and a bigger percentage (10%), the cheaper option flips depending on your ticket price.

$10≈ $2.51$1.99$2.00
$25≈ $3.52$3.49$3.50
$50≈ $5.20$5.99$6.00
$100≈ $8.55$10.99$11.00
Eventbrite = 3.7% + $1.79, plus 2.9% of (price + service fee). Posh = 10% + $0.99. Event Visionary = $1 + 10%, paid by the buyer.
  • Under about $26, Posh's all-in fee is lower per ticket than Eventbrite's.
  • Around $25 to $26, they're within a few cents.
  • Above about $26, Eventbrite's fee is lower per ticket, and the gap grows with the price. On a $100 VIP ticket it's about $2.44.

Organizers with a mix of general admission and tables should run both price points through the calculator above. Remember that fees are only part of the picture. A platform that pays you daily can be worth more than a few cents per ticket if you're fronting a venue deposit.

Costs beyond the headline ticket fee

  • Instant payouts. Posh's standard Daily or Manual payouts are free, but Instant Payout costs 5%. If you cashed out all $5,000 from the example instantly, that's $250. On Event Visionary, payouts are daily by default, and instant payouts via Stripe are available once your account is eligible.
  • Door sales. Eventbrite charges $1 per paid ticket plus 2.9% of the order for tickets sold at the door through its Organizer app in the US, and that processing fee can't be passed on.
  • Refunds. Posh's help center says its fee isn't returned when you refund a single ticket, though attendees get Posh fees back on an approved full event refund.
  • Chargebacks. Posh charges a $15 dispute fee per chargeback and says it covers that fee if you win the dispute.
  • Marketing add-ons. Eventbrite Pro starts at $15/month if you want to send up to 10,000 emails a day.

How sales tax and group orders affect Eventbrite fees

The examples above assume one ticket per order and no tax. Real orders are messier, and the two platforms react differently.

  • Sales tax: Eventbrite says its payment processing fee is calculated on the total order, including service fees and tax. If you collect tax, the processing fee grows with it. Posh publishes its fee as a flat 10% + $0.99 per paid ticket, all-in. Check how tax shows up in your own Posh checkout.
  • Group orders: Eventbrite's service fee is per ticket, and its processing fee is a percentage of the order. Buying four tickets in one order costs about the same in fees as four separate orders. Posh's fee is also per paid ticket, so group size doesn't change it either.
  • Comps and free tickets: Eventbrite charges no fees on free tickets, and Posh says free events carry no ticket fee, so free comps don't add platform costs there.

Five ways to keep ticketing fees from eating your margin

  1. Decide who pays before you price. If buyers cover the fee, price your face value for what you need to net. If you absorb it, add the fee to your break-even.
  2. Advertise the all-in price. It's required for live-event tickets in California and under the FTC's fee rule, and it avoids checkout surprises that cause abandoned carts.
  3. Avoid paying for speed you don't need. Plan deposits around free payout schedules, and use paid instant payouts only when you have to.
  4. Push presales over door sales. Presale money arrives earlier, and door sales can carry their own fees.
  5. Recheck pricing pages before each season. Platforms change their fees. Every number in this post is as of October 2026.
